Coach development weekend announced

A development weekend for coaches has been organised centred on disability awareness and best practice. The event takes place at Lilleshall National Sports Centre between September 18th – 20th 2009. Coaches from all eight regions will be able to attend following nomination by their Regional Coaching Organiser*.

Small grants programme launched

Sport England has launched a new programme offering small grants which will provide an enhanced version of the popular Sportsmatch scheme.

The small grants programme offers a simple, speedy way for grassroots sports projects to access National Lottery grants of between £300 and £10,000. The benefits include:

  • An online application form, with decisions made within six weeks
  • No need for partnership funding
  • Simple conditions and measurement requirements

2009 National Coaching Conference - fully booked

This year's National Coaching Conference is to be held from 6th - 8th November 2009 at Lilleshall National Sports Centre is now fully booked.

The theme of the event is 'Fit for Purpose' and welcomes keynote presentations from National Head Coach Peter Suk and video solution specialists Dartfish. There will also be opportunities for indoor shooting practice and socialising with coaches from all over the UK.

The event costs £125 per person and is open to all GNAS qualified coaches (with CPD licence renewal points on offer for attendance). The price includes:

• Two nights’ accommodation at Lilleshall National Sports Centre
• A 3 course meal provided by Chapters Restaurant on Saturday evening
• Breakfast, lunch, dinner and refreshments
• A conference  pack including presentations from the weekend
